Description

Shuar Shot comes from Waquitos in Ecuador, a cooperative of over 150 Shuar coffee producers in Ecuador.  The Shuar were once known for shrinking heads.  Now they are expert coffee producers.  This coffee producing initiative is part of Ecuador’s attempt to increase development in a way that benefits and protects indigenous communities.

Processing

This coffee is a washed process.  That means the farmers wash the coffee cherry off the bean with water before the drying process.  Washed processes have a clean finish without the linger.  They also tend towards chocolatey and nutty notes, as well as the smooth body of Shuar Shot.

Roast Level

Shuar Shot is a City Roast.  We pull our City Roasts from the roaster just as the bean turns a chocolatey color.  At this stage, the coffee’s authentic flavors shine without any smokiness or oil.  This Ecuadorian coffee is on the light side of medium where the caramelly sweetness comes through.  This roast level balances baker’s chocolate with a bright acidity.

Traceability

Shuar Shot is Direct Trade, meaning the farmers directly benefit from their work.

We will deliver orders from the Portland Metro Area within 1-3 business days free of charge.  You can also choose local pickup.  We will ship all other orders within 1-3 business days and provide tracking information via USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail.  Free shipping is available for orders of $50 or more.

As our product is a food item, we are unable to process a return.  If your order arrives damaged please reach out with pictures, and we will do our best to make it right!
