We believe that decaf should still taste great! In fact, at least 2 of our staff drink this decaf on a regular basis, so you know it must be good.
BCR Decaf comes from Colombia and is a sugar cane decaffeination process. Here’s how it works: The farmers soak the green coffee beans in water and ethyl acetate, which is a naturally occurring compound derived from sugar cane. Ethyl Acetate binds with the caffeine and pulls it out of the bean. The sugar cane process removes 97% of the caffeine, and it’s organic. Using sugar cane gives the coffee more flavor and body than other kinds of decaffeination processes. Because this process is done on the farm, it lowers the carbon footprint.
Our Decaf is both Fair Trade and Certified Organic, which makes it a great choice all around. And to prove it tastes great, we’ve won medals for our decaf at Golden Bean North America in 2019, 2022, and 2023.
