BCR Decaf comes from Veracruz, Mexico and is a sugar cane decaffeination process.\u00a0 Here’s how the sugar cane decaffeination process works:\u00a0 The farmers soak the green coffee beans in water and ethyl acetate, which is a naturally occurring compound derived from sugar cane.\u00a0 Then the ethyl acetate binds with the caffeine and pulls it out of the bean.\u00a0 The sugar cane process removes 97% of the caffeine, and it’s organic.\u00a0 Using sugar cane gives the coffee more flavor and body than other kinds of decaffeination processes.\u00a0 And b<\/span>ecause this process is done on the farm, it lowers the carbon footprint.<\/p>\n Our decaf is a City Roast.\u00a0 For City Roasts, we pull the coffee from the roaster just as the beans turn a chocolatey color.\u00a0 At this stage, the coffee’s authentic flavors shine without any smokiness or oil.\u00a0 This Mexican coffee is on the light side of medium to allow the sugar cane sweetness to shine through.\u00a0 At this roast level, the mouthfeel is pleasant and doesn’t linger too long, balancing caramel with semisweet chocolate.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n BCR Decaf is Direct Trade.<\/p>\n To prove our decaf tastes great, we’ve won medals for our decaf at Golden Bean North America in 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, & and a GOLD in 2025.<\/p>\nRoast Level<\/h4>\n
