{"id":53396,"date":"2025-04-07T14:54:55","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T21:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blindcoffeeroasters.com\/?p=53396"},"modified":"2025-04-10T11:12:03","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T18:12:03","slug":"add-the-taste-of-spring-to-your-latte","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blindcoffeeroasters.com\/bcr\/add-the-taste-of-spring-to-your-latte\/","title":{"rendered":"Add the taste of spring to your latte"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a lovely spring out here in the Pacific Northwest, and we hope it&#8217;s been just as lovely where you are.\u00a0 Flowers are starting to bloom, and we wanted to share some delightful syrup recipes to add a little flower power to your latte or other desserts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blindcoffeeroasters.com\/bcr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/istockphoto-1399448958-612x612-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-53397 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blindcoffeeroasters.com\/bcr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/istockphoto-1399448958-612x612-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Bright yellow dandelion syrup in a jar surrounded by dandelion flowers.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To make these recipes, you&#8217;re just making a simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar), but you&#8217;re flavoring the water before adding in the sugar.\u00a0 Choose your flower and try it out!<\/p>\n<h4>Flower Options:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tablespoons lilac flowers<\/li>\n<li>2 cups rose petals<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup cherry blossoms<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp lavender buds<\/li>\n<li>1 cup violet petals (Early Blue Violets work best)<\/li>\n<li>1 cup magnolia petals<\/li>\n<li>1 cup dandelion petals, remove green parts or it will be bitter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Recipe:<\/h4>\n<p>First, soak the petals in water with a couple tablespoons of white vinegar and gently whisk them around to clean them.\u00a0 Then strain them out.<\/p>\n<p>Next, boil the petals in hot water for 10-20 min.\u00a0 You can always use a spoon to sample the strength of the flavor.\u00a0 When you&#8217;re happy with the flavor, strain the petals out and catch the flavored water in a glass pitcher or something that will measure how much you have.\u00a0 Return the water to a clean pot.<\/p>\n<p>Then add an equal amount of sugar to your pot.\u00a0 (This recipe works best with white granulated sugar, but you can use other sweeteners too like honey, agave or brown sugar.\u00a0 It will change the consistency of your syrup.)\u00a0 Stir\u00a0and simmer until the sugar is\u00a0completely dissolved.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, store your syrup in a glass container in the fridge and use within about 2-3 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Safety note:\u00a0 Always make sure you are 100% certain you know what plant it is.\u00a0 Ask an expert if you are unsure, and be aware of your allergies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Need some coffee?\u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"ml-rte-link-wrapper\" data-redactor-span=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blindcoffeeroasters.com\/product-tag\/natural-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Try our natural process coffees<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 Their fruity flavor will go great with these florals.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We hope you enjoy the flavors of spring with these recipes!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a lovely spring out here in the Pacific Northwest, and we hope it&#8217;s been just as lovely where you are.\u00a0 Flowers are starting to bloom, and we wanted to share some delightful syrup recipes to add a little flower power to your latte or other desserts.
