Here at BCR, we want to be on the cutting edge of 4th wave coffee.\u00a0 Ok, in normal person, not pretentious coffee snob speak, we want to make you the best home barista you can be.\u00a0 And we’re happy to support you at whatever level of coffee snob you aspire to.\u00a0\u00a0\ud83d\ude01<\/p>\n

We love to nerd out about coffee, and we’re happy to share that nerdiness with you.\u00a0 You’ve probably heard of 2nd or 3rd wave coffee, but many folks don’t know what that means.<\/p>\n

A quick history lesson<\/span><\/h3>\n

When coffee first began to be traded as a commodity, we call that 1st Wave Coffee.\u00a0 Think post-WW2 Folgers and Maxwell House.\u00a0 The taste was ok, but coffee’s purpose at this point was more utilitarian:\u00a0\u00a0waking you up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moving forward into the 1970s we have the beginning of 2nd Wave Coffee.\u00a0 2nd Wave Coffee features fun, sweet\u00a0flavors often served at roadside coffee huts with punny names.\u00a0 These sweet specials improved the coffee’s taste.<\/span><\/p>\n

3rd Wave Coffee gained popularity in the early 2000s and features the rise of specialty (aka really delicious) coffees.\u00a0 Picture your favorite coffee house and small batch roasters.\u00a0 3rd Wave Coffee highlights the uniqueness of each batch of coffee.<\/span><\/p>\n

And here’s that pretentious part again.\u00a0 4 Wave Coffee isn’t fully defined yet, but one feature is great coffee made at home.\u00a0 The pandemic lockdowns and economic concerns had us all experimenting with making our favorite coffee drinks in our own kitchens.\u00a0\u00a0That’s where BCR comes in.\u00a0\u00a0 For many, our morning coffee has become a ritual that helps us start the day on a good note.\u00a0 At Blind Coffee Roasters, we love roasting small batch coffees to make your morning ritual wonderful.<\/span><\/p>\n
